Sugar-Free Banana Hot Chocolate (Vegan, Low-Carb)
#CookingWithIsabelle
Looking for a healthy hot chocolate recipe that isn’t watery or boring? Well, look no further! My healthy hot chocolate isn’t just completely sugar free, but also rich and chocolaty like the original classic recipe and is made with natural nutritious ingredients! It’s vegan, low carb, sugar free, and super delicious!
As a child, hot chocolate every winter was a staple all season long.
The sweet warm cup of cocoa left me feeling so comforted and seasonal that I would ask for a cup any chance I could; during a Starbucks visit, at holiday parties or my when my dad would prepare a warm cup at snack time from what seemed like a magical hot cocoa powder mix. Once he tossed some marshmallows in, I couldn’t get enough all season and beyond.

Of course, back then I wasn’t thinking about all the sugar and nasty additives in marshmallows, the amount of empty calories, or the dangers of that large amount of added sugar the hot chocolate contains.
It’s what gives it that sweet yet addictive taste, keeping us coming back for more and more. Nowadays, I opt for healthier choices and try to avoid as much added sugar possible.
This childhood love of the warm and nostalgic of a cup of hot chocolate is what inspired me to create this recipe. I’ve discovered that you can in fact enjoy a rich chocolate beverage that you can drink at your leisure without having to worry about your health – just by simply making hot chocolate at home.
Sugar-free banana hot chocolate.
Reminiscent of that thick rich chocolaty texture you get from those fancy coffee shops, this recipe is pure guilt free indulgence.
My ultimate sugar free hot chocolate recipe is rich with flavor, thick like drinking chocolate, and healthy, dairy free, vegan, and Paleo! Plus, this hot chocolate recipe is almost as fast as making hot chocolate from a package, made with only 4 simple pure wholefood ingredients.
Making a sugar free hot chocolate that tastes good
The reason why you have this thick-like-drinking-chocolate texture… is thanks to the ripe blended banana which also adds a flavor reminiscent of those chocolate-dipped frozen bananas we use to eat as children, pleasing to kids of all ages.
Top this drink with some unsweetened whipped cream and powder on some cocoa, for an extra wowa yummy factor!
Well, you’re in for a treat… enjoy this chocolatey decadent goodness in a cup!
With all of that said, here’s your recipe!

INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups of milk of choice
- 1-2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla (optional)
- Few drops of vanilla stevia (optional)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 ripe banana, peeled and sliced
